Tough night for Lady Bears
Nevada junior righthander Christian Novak narrowly missed a six-inning perfect game in the Lady Tigers' 10-0 victory over Butler Tuesday evening at Bushwhacker Field in Nevada. Lady Bear right fielder Sam Hammer singled with one out in the top of the sixth inning for Butler's only hit. Novak struck out 13, including the side three times, and walked no one as the Lady Tigers improved to 12-1 for the season. The Lady Tigers scored the only runs Christian needed in the third inning when Casey Barker led off with a bunt single, stole second base and scored the first run of the game on a single to right field by Nikki O'Bryan. O'Bryan scored on a throwing error moments later when Tiffani Long lined out to the Butler shortstop. Nevada added one run in the fourth inning, four more in the fifth and ended the game when three Lady Tigers scampered on a Lady Bear error with the bases loaded. Butler's 5-6 this Fall.
